On 7 October Confindustria Albania held a meeting in Tirana, at the Xheko Imperial, between its member companies and the General Directorate of Customs. The table was designed for direct dialogue between businesses and the administration: at its centre, the problems companies encounter in customs operations and the reforms under way.
The meeting was opened by the Vice-President of Confindustria Albania Claudio Michelacci, Giovanni Turturiello of the Italian Embassy and the Director General of Customs Besmir Beja.
The programme covered the digitalisation and simplification of procedures, with particular attention to the NCTS transit system, the Customs Single Window and alignment with European Union systems. A dedicated session addressed the status of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO), which grants reliable companies simplified procedures.
The format mattered as much as the topics: companies were able to put their questions directly to customs officials and discuss concrete cases.
