President Meroni took part in the Italy–Romania Business Forum held on 15 February at the Farnesina, chaired by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries. Confindustria was represented by the Vice-President for internationalisation, B. Beltrame, in the panel on opportunities for bilateral economic cooperation. Confindustria Romania was represented by its President, G. Bertola, accompanied by a delegation of Councillors from the Association. The Forum focused on the sectors of energy; agro-industry; ICT and digitalisation; infrastructure and the engineering supply chain. The initiative aimed to strengthen further the economic and commercial relations between Italy and Romania, which is the second destination market for exports in the Central and Eastern European area, with trade growing steadily and in which Italy has for over ten years been the leading investor country by number of registered companies and the fifth by value of capital invested. Future opportunities rest largely on European funds, with the national Recovery and Resilience Plan focusing on the green and digital transition, healthcare, and research, development and innovation.
