The RTT Index falls in May after April's jump, but the second quarter remains positive

The latest update of the Real Time Turnover (RTT) Index, produced by the Confindustria Research Department in collaboration with TeamSystem, points to a downward correction in the real turnover of Italian companies in May 2025. After April's strong rebound, the overall figure records a quarter-on-quarter decline affecting all production sectors, while still maintaining a positive carry-over for the second quarter of the year.

The main findings:

  • 📉 Industry: -3.2% in May, after two months of growth.
  • 🏢 Services: a marked fall, but the quarter remains positive.
  • 🏗️ Construction: a slight decline (-2.7%), with a carry-over that is nonetheless positive for the fourth quarter running.
  • 🌍 Geographical areas: decreases across Italy, sharper in the North-West, contained in the South.
  • 🏭 Company size: widespread declines, above all among large companies, but the carry-over is still positive thanks to April's push.

👉 The aggregate figure confirms a trend that is still expansionary on a quarterly basis, despite May's short-term slowdown.
