Confindustria Romania Economic Forum 2025
On 14 May 2025, in Bucharest, Confindustria Romania held its Economic Forum entitled “IN BETWEEN – Economics and Geopolitics: the New World (Dis)Order”, an event that brought together institutional representatives, international experts and companies to reflect on global challenges in an age of great transitions.
After the opening greeting from the President of Confindustria Romania, Giulio Bertola, and the address by the Ambassador of Italy to Romania, H.E. Alfredo Durante Mangoni, the Forum hosted a discussion of the highest level on crucial themes: from artificial intelligence to cybersecurity, from the space race to new forms of economic leadership.
Among the speakers were prominent figures such as:
- Luca Tagliaretti, Executive Director of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC)
- Emilio Cozzi, science journalist and astropolitics expert
- Alessandro Aresu, geopolitical analyst and public advisor
- Massimiliano Nicolini, R&D Director at Olitec, AI expert
Moderated by Claudio Brachino, political columnist and media advisor at Italpress, the debate ranged across the great fault lines of the global present: technology, security, strategic autonomy and models of governance.
President Bertola said:
“We chose to call this Forum IN BETWEEN – and no title was ever more apt. In a time of uncertainty, we need a clear-sighted and courageous outlook. Whoever controls AI, whoever dominates space, whoever owns the data, can set a society's priorities. But the entrepreneur is the one who, even in the chaos, invests and builds. In the end, disorder is nothing but order waiting to be understood.”
The Forum was a moment of independent and far-sighted reflection, enhanced by the quality of the contributions and by a moderation able to give coherence and rhythm to the discussion. An occasion that confirms the role of Confindustria Romania as a privileged observatory on global transformations, in support of Italian companies in Eastern Europe.
