On 19 April the President of Confindustria Est Europa, Maria Luisa Meroni, took part in the presentation of the “Romania Desk” at the prestigious headquarters of Confindustria Siracusa, in Sicily.
Proceedings at the initiative — organised by Confindustria Catania, Confindustria Sicilia and Confindustria Siracusa, in collaboration with Confindustria Romania and Confindustria Est Europa — were opened by the President of Confindustria Siracusa, Diego Bivona, and the President of Confindustria Catania, Antonello Biriaco. Welcoming addresses were given by the Director General of Confindustria Sicilia, Alessia Bivona, and by the President of Confindustria Est Europa, Meroni.
There followed a focus session by the President of Confindustria Romania and Vice-President of Confindustria Est Europa, Giulio Bertola, on the country's geopolitical and economic picture and its prospects for 2023, as well as on the trade and investment opportunities for Italian companies.
President Bertola then presented the agreement signed by Confindustria Romania, Confindustria Siracusa, Confindustria Catania and Confindustria Sicilia.
Success stories from Romania were then presented. Speakers included Giovanni Musso, Chief Executive of IREM Spa and President of the Engineering Section of Confindustria Siracusa, and Gaetano Vecchio, Director General of Cosedil Spa and Vice-President of Confindustria Catania.
Initiatives of this kind, which represent the evolution of the Federation's Roadshows, demonstrate ever-growing attention to Eastern Europe as well as a progressive integration between the International Representative Offices and the associative system in Italy.
