Maria Luisa Meroni, President of Confindustria Est Europa, has been appointed Vice-President of Confindustria's Council of International Representative Offices.
The appointment comes alongside that of Vice-President Gianni Bardazzi (President of Confindustria Russia) and was strongly supported by the President of the Council, Massimo Dal Checco (President of Confindustria Assafrica e Mediterraneo).
Provided for by article 5 of the federal statute and established in 2019 under the presidency of Luca Serena, past president of Confindustria Est Europa, the Council is made up of the 16 representative offices of the Confindustria system's foreign network, among them the two Federations Confindustria Est Europa and Confindustria Assafrica e Mediterraneo, and its task is to ensure the link between these and national Confindustria. It promotes action in favour of business internationalisation while identifying the target countries in which to set up an association. The most recent, chronologically, are those established in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan last year and in Poland and Slovenia in 2019.
The Council's work over the past year and a half has led to the creation of new Associations: in Poland and Slovenia in 2019 and in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in 2020.
The Council has currently begun the process of setting up Promoting Committees for the creation of international representative offices in Hungary and Kazakhstan, with the aim of making them operational by the end of the year.
