On 28 June the “Bulgaria Country Presentation” was held in the Sala delle Colonne of LUISS Guido Carli University, an event organised by the Bulgarian Investment Agency together with the Ministry of Innovation and Growth of the Republic of Bulgaria, in partnership with Confindustria Bulgaria and in collaboration with LUISS University, aimed at presenting the country as a destination for investment and internationalisation for Italian companies and at fostering the economic and commercial relations of Italian entrepreneurs with the Bulgarian economy.
Speakers at the country presentation included the Bulgarian Minister of Innovation and Growth, Daniel Lorer, who set out the Ministry's role in stimulating and accelerating innovation and growth in Bulgaria and in acting as a liaison between companies and local institutions in the internationalisation process. They were followed by Raffaele Marchetti, Pro-Rector for internationalisation at Luiss Guido Carli; H.E. the Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria, Giuseppina Zarra, who reaffirmed Bulgaria's strategic importance for investors as a crossroads between Europe and Asia, underlining the opportunity to invest in infrastructure, digitalisation and energy. She also recalled Italy's important strategic role in Bulgaria and the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries. H.E. the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Italy, Todor Stoyanov, likewise recalled the solid relations between Italy and Bulgaria, underlining the key role of the EU in activating National Recovery Plans, on which Bulgaria places great store, especially for achieving the digital and energy transition: key elements for strengthening bilateral relations.
The President of Confindustria Bulgaria, Roberto Santorelli, then highlighted the potential opportunities for collaboration between our country and Bulgaria, drawing on his own business experience; and finally the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency, Bogdan Bogdanov, gave an overview of Bulgaria as an innovating country, together with the advantages and investment potential it offers today, dwelling in particular on the engineering, automotive, IT and energy sectors.
Bearing witness to the investment opportunities Bulgaria offers in these sectors were three entrepreneurs who have internationalised in the country: for the engineering sector, Maria Luisa Meroni, MBM Metalwork and President of Confindustria Est Europa; for the automotive sector, Arch. Lybomir Stanislavov, Executive Director of Automotive Cluster Bulgaria; for the energy sector, Eng. Plamen Dilkov, Bulgaria Engineering and Vice-President of Confindustria Bulgaria.
